What's Your Word of the Year?

My word for 2021 was JOY, which is a deeply personal word since those are the first 3 letters in my name. I wanted to find the JOY in all things, big and small, and really enjoy my life. One of the definitions of joy is gladness in any circumstance.
I always say be careful what you wish for cause the universe will test you and three weeks after choosing the word JOY at the age of 45, I was diagnosed with stage 3 tongue cancer. My challenge for the year became, how to find JOY in all the things, including cancer. After surgery to remove a portion of my tongue, 39 lymph nodes from my neck and 5 weeks of radiation…I am down right grateful to be alive! If you have ever had a brush with death or a challenge that makes you reevaluate every facet of your life, you know that it’s not only eye opening but soul shaking.
Joy became my word and mantra, not just for this year but for the rest of my life. People have cross stitched that word for me, put it on cakes, balloons, coffee mugs, and so much more. I do have a new word for 2022 and I can’t wait to share it with you along with all of the lessons that cancer and joy brought to me and in turn, hopefully to you. Thank you for continuing on this beautiful and joyous journey with me. I'm looking forward to hearing about your journey this last year and the word that you are choosing for 2022.
Let's manifest amazingness together this coming year...the world needs YOU and me, and all that we have to offer.

STRENGTH
After everything I’ve been through, I’ve learned that I am and continue to be a strong woman. Reminding myself that I am strong gives me the motivation to face all things in life.
Gratitude (not attitude)
My word is “Sincere” or “Genuine”. It is so easy in this culture to say things we don’t mean and pretend that we are someone that we are not. I want to work on being more sincere and genuine with the people in my life.
Blessed
My word is FABULOUS. It may seem cliche, but the reason why I chose it is because it defines how I feel and how we should all feel in this new decade. For years there has been a struggle to conform to a standard that has been held against us, but we are all fabulous and we should all feel fabulous no matter what.
